2016 Performance Calendar Day 2 : Lighthouse: Lighting the way to better web performance

Some time back, in an effort to allow for the performance tooling and auditing of web apps, the smart people @ Google built an open source tool called Lighthouse.
As a Chrome extenstion or from the command line, you submit the URL and the page is put through what NFL fans would regard as the combine, a battery of tests collecting a trove of data that you can then use to assess needed changes for performance improvements.
This is something that was certainly discussed rescently @ Chrome Dev Summit, and can expect this to be the talk of the circuit as PWAs (progressive web apps) roll out more and more.
Providing a quick walk through is Dean Hume. He's been working with PWAs in the wild, taking advantage current browser features.
You can read all about it in his write up here.
